Symbolize Can Make Riches in the Richmond and Leo De Fury All The Rage In The Gordon

NAP – Symbolize 2:25 Goodwood 6/1

My NAP for Goodwood’s Day 3 is Symbolize in the Qatar Richmond Stakes. Andrew Balding’s son of Starspangledbanner won well on debut at Salisbury in May and built on that form when starting favourite for the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. That was a run that can be upgraded, he finished fourth but was seemingly drawn on the wrong side of the track on ground that was probably not ideal. Back on a quicker surface and a step up in distance to 6f looks good move for him, drawn to attack in stall 3 hopefully David Probert can have him in a handy position and he will have every chance of putting up a strong performance here.

Threat is the obvious danger after an almighty run behind Arizona in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, but there is not much value in his price of 7/4. With Symbolize having a fair bit of upside considering what went wrong for him last time, he could prove to be a nice bet to improve past Threat and land this nice pot for Kingsclere.

NB (Next Best) – Leo De Fury 3:00 Goodwood 8/1

My NB is in the Qatar Gordon Stakes in Leo De Fury. Jessie Harrington’s son of Australia has come a long way in a short period of time, winning both of his starts after just making his debut in June. He has looked a strong staying type in those two runs as well as being rather uncomplicated and a step up in grade looks more than justified from what he has achieved so far. He will have to improve but given his much lightly raced profile compared to some of his rivals, a chance can be taken that he can take this step up in grade in his stride.

Constantinople is the obvious danger for the Ballydoyle team and he looks well up this grade on what he has shown so far, and looks a St Leger type in waiting. Spanish Mission seemingly had the Bahrain Trophy fall in his lap last time, staying on strongly from a blistering pace at Newmarket. Godolphin’s Jalmoud is beginning to look at tad exposed, so hopefully Leo De Fury can prove to be at least as good as these.

His uncomplicated running style and progressive profile is sure to give us a good run for our money and 8/1 looks a fair each way price to me, and hopefully he can reward with a bit of luck.
