Darinza Sold at December Mares Sale for 20,000gns 06/12/19

Darinza Went through the sales ring on Wednesday 04/12/19 and was sold for 20,000gns at Tattersalls December mares sale. We are happy enough with the result and believe Darinza is off to warmer climbs being export to India to resume her broodmare career. There was an element of sadness to see her sold as Darinza was one of AppleTrees's first purchases along side Federico Barberini. We wish her new owners the best of luck with her and hope she can produce plenty of winners for them.

Bated Breath x Kite Mark Acquired At The December Tattersalls Foal Sale 02/12/19

It was a long wet week at the Tattersalls December foal Sale, but we made it worth while by acquiring a lovely foal By Bated Breath out of a black type producing mare Kite Mark. He was bought to keep our one and only colt foal, Churchill x Darinza company over the winter and to also buy a colt with a resalable profile. I followed many foals over the 3 previous days until the purchase was made. As stated he is by Bated Breath who is a sire on the up with his stud fee going from £10,000 in 2019 to £12,500 in 2020. Bated Breath sired 11 stake winners in 2019 with 6 of them group performers including Daahyeh, Space Traveller and Worth Waiting. Lets hope he has another good summer to enhance his profile further. Our Foal is out of the mare Kite Mark who in her own right has produced Group performers Kite Wood and Odeon. Kite Wood won 5 races from 2 to 4 years including the G2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier at Longchamp and the G3 GGA Geoffrey Freerer stakes at Newbury before being placed 2nd in the G1 St Ledger at Doncaster. Odeon won 2 races from 3 and 5 years and was placed 3rd in the G2 Neptune Great Voltigeur Stakes at York among other black type performances. Both Bated Breath x Kite Mark colt And Churchill x Darinza will be offered for sale in the autumn yearling sales 2020.

Kingman x Darinza Realises 60,000gns at Tattersalls October Book 1

Appletree's Kingman x Darinza colt realized 60,000gns at the Tattersalls October Book 1 Yearling Sale. Unfortunately 60,000gns was not enough to secure a sale and he will go to Malcolm Bastard's with a view to breezing him in early spring. We are hoping to prove he is a nice horse and we are excited to see how he will progress leading up to the breeze ups next year. His Frankel two year old sister is yet to race but she is going very nicely with William Haggas, and hopefully she can add some strength in depth to the pedigree in due course.
