Joss’s Jewels Result – Fleeting Just Touched Off By Frankie And Star Catcher

NAP – Fleeting 5:10 Curragh (7/1 Advised) 9/2

2nd

Fleeting was just touched off in the Kerrygold Irish Oaks on Saturday by John Gosden’s Star Catcher and Frankie Dettori. Star Catcher was given a Dettori Masterclass off the front with Fleeting closing all the way to the line to be beaten a 1/2 length. There was not many excuses for Fleeting this time and as she came to win the race, you always felt Star Catcher was going to pull out more. The Ribblesdale form from Royal Ascot came to the fore and if the two were to meet again, it would make for an interesting rematch. At least followers had a run for their each way money with Fleeting being advised at 7/1 on Friday and was quite well supported being backed into 9/2 2nd favourite at the off.

Fleeting strikes me as a horse that could run well in an Arc getting a fillies and 3 year old allowance. She enjoys coming off a strong pace and providing the ground is not too soft come October (which it often can be), 40/1 at the moment is juicy enough price.

Its a shame Joss’s Jewels couldn’t make it 3 winning Naps from as many weeks, hopefully we can regain the winning thread next week.

NB (Next Best) – Projection 3:00 Newbury (8/1 advised) 16/1

8th

Unfortunately I got Projection a bit wrong at the weekend. He lost his race at the start when sweating up badly and having to be led to the start. He broke well but was too keen for his own good but he didn’t run too badly considering. The race was won by German raider Waldpfad ridden by Andrea Atzeni, he went off 33/1 but he won well and there seemed no fluke about the win. Favourite The Tin Man was very disappointing but he may of needed the run and I would say all roads lead to the Sprint Cup at Haydock for him, a race he won last year. It will be interesting to see how the form from this race stacks up.

Projection remains one to keep an eye on as he is better than that, but he will need to show a lot more than he did this time to be of interest as a betting perspective again.
