Posted Can Deliver Once Again At Newmarket
NAP – Posted 2:45 Newmarket
This Weekend’s Nap comes in the Price Bailey ‘Right Advice For Life’ handicap at Newmarket in Posted. Richard Hannon’s filly by Kingman has taken a little while to get off the mark but perseverance paid off last time when she scored tidily at Salisbury. The front two pulled well clear that day and she had to battle to get the job done, and with doubts about her aptitude for a finish so far in her career, there appears no fluke about the way she did it that day.
Thoughts are that she will have learnt a lot from getting her head in front, and with lots of promising form behind useful sorts in the past such as this year’s Britannia Stakes winner Biometric and one time classic hope Antonia De Vega I’m confident she can come forward again now. Richard Hannon is in sparkling form and a mark of 85 could seriously underestimate this filly. Sean Levey takes the ride and she rates a very nice win bet for Saturday afternoon.
Kiefer To Blossom In The Melrose
NB (Next Best) – Kiefer 2:25 York 8/1
My NB this weekend comes at York in the Sky Bet Melrose handicap in Kiefer. Eve Johnson Houghton’s colt by Pour Moi has done nothing but improve with racing this year and arguably should of finished closer at Ascot last time when getting outpaced and finishing with a flourish to take 3rd. The step up 2f to 1m6f on Saturday looks sure to play to this horse’s strengths as he has looked likes he’s been crying out for a step up in distance. Being by Derby winner Pour Moi and out of a Linamix mare, his pedigree screams stamina, and if continuing his upward curve and improving for the extra distance, he has to have a cracking chance here.
There should be plenty of speed on here and with Kiefer usually being dropped out in his races, he should get a good pace to aim at. It is a race full of unexposed types but I am confident this hoRse has plenty of scope left in him yet, especially as he gets older and surely he has each way claims at worst.
