Gallaside Completes His Hat Trick And Funny Man Third At York

Friday 6th September

Gallaside 1st 3:15 Newcastle

Gallaside completed his hat trick on Friday afternoon in the Gowland & Dawson Ltd “Blaydon Races” Nursery Handicap (Class 2). He made just about all before getting headed in the final furlong and briefly looked for minor honours, although he rallied well under Hollie Doyle and gamely stuck his neck out to win by a head. It was a good bit of placing by Archie Watson and was a nice pot to pick up with this colt.

He is continuing to improve with each outing to the racecourse and looks as though he will keep on improving with time and distance. It is also a nice update for our recent purchase Gallardise, a full sister to this colt from the Osarus sale earlier last week.

Funny Man 3rd 4:00 York

Funny Man continues in good form when finishing third in the Little Green Rascals Children’s Nursery Handicap (Class 4). You cannot fault his consistency with filling the places in each of his last 7 starts.

Held up in midfield, Funny Man travelled much the best throughout under Daniel Tudhope on this first start at two miles. The winner got first run and Funny Man was unable to reel in the progressive Platform Nineteen of Michael Bell’s close home.

David O’Meara is certain there is still more to come for this horse yet and will improve for being ridden more cold and patiently in future engagements. A late developer, we are hopeful he can continue to progress into a nice four year old and be a nice stayer in the making.
