Rumba Numba Shows Her Potential At Wolverhampton 22/05/25

Rumba Numba (Too Darn Hot x Astonishing) home bred 3yo filly showed her potential this evening at Wolverhampton by winning the Visit wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk To Book Now Maiden Fillies' Stakes over 1m tonight by 1 1/4 length from the Gosden trained favorite Miss Justice. To be honest it was a relief after her disappointing run at Yarmouth the time before. She is a filly that we have have always loved, I adored her as a yearling at home, Malcolm Bastard liked her in pretraining and the reports have always been good from Roger Varian. Jack Mitchel gave her a supreme ride being sympathetic but keeping her in touch giving her every chance to be produced up the straight. I do hope there is more to come but she is one ear marked to come back to the stud for a second career as a broodmare once Roger has taken her as far as he can.

Another Winner Bred By AppleTree, Cheerleader Strikes At Redcar 19/05/24

AppleTree had a good result yesterday as Cheerleader won the Join Racing TV Now Handicap over 5f  at Redcar today. The filly was bred by AppleTree Stud and is the first foal of home bred mare Sleepless (Shalaa x Midnight Thoughts) so its nice to get her of the mark. Cheerleader was sold at Tattersalls Sommerville sale to Karl Burk for 12,000gns but has since changed hands joining Tina Jackson and owned by racing personality Dereck Thompson. Sleepless has a Ardad 2yo filly coming through and a cracking Stradivarius yearling filly here at the stud. AppleTree would like to congratulate winning connections and widh them the very best of luck with the filly in the future, we will watch with interest.

DAYDREAM EXPRESS became a stakes winner bred by AppleTree Stud yesterday when she won the Siedler & Kowalski Malermeister GmbH Hoppegartener Stuten-Meile (Listed Race) at Hoppegarten in Germany this afternoon. DAYDREAM EXPRESS was sold at Book 2 in Tattersalls October sale 2021 for 300,000gns to Blandford Bloodstock and John Gosden, she did not quite scale the heights for the Gosden team and was offered for resale when sold out to Germany. The whole family have took time and she is realizing her potential having turned 5 this year, she is already a winner of 4 races before this success we hope there is more to come.

Stradivarius x Lola Paige born 10.30pm 17/04/25

Stradivarius x Lola Paige colt arrived at AppleTree at the not so unreasonable hour of 10.30pm. Lola Paige is the perfect mother and we have high hopes for her going forward. Her first foal Lola Moon ran last weekend at Newbury in a hot maiden finishing 5th only beaten 1 & 3/4 length. Lola Paige also has a Too Darn Hot 2yo filly in training with Ralph Beckett sold by AppleTree for 600,000gns last October and a another smart Too Darn Hot filly here at home. Cooper as the colt has been named will hopefully fly the flag for his brilliant sire.

Blast The Dream Follows Up At Newcastle 08/02/25

Blast The Dream followed up her recent success at Southwell by snatching victory at Newcastle this evening by the shortest of margins. She manage to win the Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Handicap over 1 mile by a short head from West Tyrone. Although she travelled well through out the race she hit a flat spot at about the 2 furlong pole where her opposition got first run on her. Jack Mitchel balanced her well and once she had got her act together she really was motoring at the line to win on the nod. The race will bring out more improvement we hope as she is still learning her job and we look forward to seeing what the handicapper does before making a plan, although there is sure to be a little break on the horizon before a summer campaign.

December Mare Sales Results 04/12/24

Although Tattersalls December mares sale had a somber feel to it for us here at AppleTree it was very much a successful week. The sad feeling was from the point of view  we were saying goodbye to mares that really started things hear at AppleTree but we have to make way for younger stock and keep the ball rolling. Absolute Blast lot 1516 was first through the ring on Tuesday realizing 65,000gns when being knocked down to Kelly Equine. Then the old girl Astonishing lot 1601 making 150,000gns signed for by Yeomanstown and Midland Equine. On to Wednesday with Midnight Thoughts lot 1810 going the way of Culworth Grounds Stud for 1,000gns which wasn't the most lucrative deal from our  perspective but the fact she has gone to such a good home is reassuring. Fearns Pippin lot 1878 concluded our draft and was sold for 35,000gns to Levent Sarikaya. I would like to say a big thank you to establishments who took time to view our mares and would like to wish the very best of luck to all the purchasers in the future.
