Sticky Tattersalls October Yearling Sales 16/10/23
The vibe at Tattersalls Book 2 and Book 3 sales last week was a sticky one, AppleTree had 3 offerings and we started well Oasis Dream x Absolute Blast 22 filly sold well to Norman Court Stud for 125,000gns which was a good result. However I do feel in a better market she would of pushed on a little further, Next up was a fine big colt Pinatubo x Midnight Thoughts 22. It was clear going to the ring we had no live interest but he did attract perspective buyers up at the ring. The breeze up lads took a shine to him and Mark and Charlie Johnston pushed him a long to the 48,000gns level, there was no interest after this and Paul and I both thought it wasn't enough. Bob as we call him has been sent to Malcolm Bastards with a view to going into training next spring. Straight in to Book 3 after this we had Invincible Spirit x Fearns Pippin colt who was a foal share with Lordship Stud. the yearling was very busy during viewings and popular up at the ring before going through. He achieved 38,000gns which got him away but I do feel feel that buyer Jamie Osbourne got him self a bargain. we would like to thank everyone who came to view our yearlings last week and wish the buyers the very best of luck with them.
Book 2&3 Tattersalls Sales Offerings 04/10/23
AppleTree have 3 offerings for next week yearling sales at Tattersalls. Starting with 2 at Book 2, first up is a very racey Oasis Dream x Absolute Blast filly lot no 841 selling on Tuesday. Know to us as Penny she is a good moving filly with great body, everything about her screams racehorse. Then comes lot 1304 Pinatubo x Midnight Thoughts colt on Wednesday, Bob as we call him is by the exciting first season sire Pinatubo. he is a fine big colt, all the dams offspring have been racehorses and he is sure to give some one a lot of fun. We are then straight in to Thursday and Book 3 with lot 1556 a lovely Invincible Spirit x Fearns Pippin colt. He is arguably a Book 2 horse in Book 3, again know to us as Lenny he has done nothing but improve through the year, he will continue to do so.
Dandyman Filly Sold To A Good Home 05/09/23
Our Dandyman x Sleepless filly was sold to a good home today being knocked down to Kelly Burke at the Tattersalls Sommerville sale. She made 12,000gns which was a little disappointing being a well built racey filly. On the upside she has gone to great home and will have every chance to set our mare Sleepless on her way. We would all here at AppleTree like to wish Karl, Kelly and Lucy Burke the very best of luck with her and will watch the fillies career with interest.
Sales Season Starts For AppleTree In Newmarket Somerville Sales Dandyman x Sleepless Filly Lot 298
Sales season starts for us in Newmarket next week with lot 298 Dandyman x Sleepless filly, Known to us here as Nikki. She is Strong filly with good temperament, looks a runner for sure. I think she will be popular with trainers as she is uncomplicated and will be able to get on with her.
Alaskan Gold Gets His Head In Front At Carlisle 31/08/23
Alaskan Gold (Kodiac x Luminous Gold) got of the mark at Carlisle in the Shepherd Chartered Surveyors EBF Novice Stakes for 2yo's over six furlongs. Alaskan beat Welcome Dream a short head, the winning margin does not do Alaskan gold credit. He was drawn 11 which was a hurdle he had to over come, due to the draw and being trap out wide was in front too soon, Meaning Danny Tudhope had to be at his best to mitigate circumstance and at his strongest in the driving finish. Alaskan was still a little green and learning his job. Traveling strongly, looking the winner at every stage before running around in the final furlong. The front pair pulled well clear of the rest of the field and look useful. Alaskan Golds form is very strong not being beaten far by subsequent Group 1 & 2 winning Vandeek on debut, its now on to stakes races before an exciting 3yo campaign.
A Welcome Winner, Royal Charter Scores On The July Course 01/07/23
Royal Charter Expert Eye x Royal Charter) Was a welcome winner this afternoon of the Racing TV Fillies Mile Handicap over a mile by a neck from Chealamy. Trained by William Haggas he was settled well by William Buick before having to get the better of a disadvantage of being in the stands side slower group. Royal Charter effectively had to win 2 races. We are hoping our filly can step up to stakes races at some point but we will be guarded by William Haggas.
